Head Start - Strengthening children, families, and communities through quality education, comprehensive health and family services, and by fostering community partnerships.

Preschool is held Monday through Thursday from 8:15 am to 11:45 am for seventeen three and four year old children.  The Head Start program delivers comprehensive and high quality services designed to foster healthy development in low-income children.  Head Start grantee and delegate agencies provide a range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development; medical, dental, and mental health; nutrition; and parent involvement.  In addition, the entire range of Head Start services is responsive and appropriate to each child and family's development, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage and experience.

Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska also operates Buffalo County home based services in the county for Head Start and Early Head Start.  The home based services uses the family's home as the learning environment.  Services are delivered through the combination of four basic strategies: weekly home visits, group socialization activities, focus on parent education, and community outreach.

Little Angels Child Care Center, built in 2004, is licensed by Health and Human Services for 50 children ranging from 6 weeks to 13 years old.  Eight CPR/first aid certified employees and a preschool teacher are on staff.  Additional services provided include holiday celebrations, nutritious meals, field trips, library visits, transportation to Head Start, swimming lessons, and Little Bluejays.  Trips are taken to the park, Seneca Sunrise, and other community resources.

Shari Hunsberger has a 24-hour daycare in Ravenna that has been in operations since May 2009.  Licensed by the State of Nebraska, Shari currently holds a Home I license.  She can have up to 10 children at one time ages 6 weeks to 13 years old.  Shari is CPR and First Aid certified and participates in the Family Service Child Care Food Program. Activities include trips to the park (which is only 1 block away from her home) and adventure walks.  Facilities include a fenced in yard for safe outdoor play and more than enough indoor space for play activities. Shari also works with children on learning colors, ABC's, 123's, shapes and other learning activities that are age appropriate for each child.  Shari is a mother of 4 daughters. Three are school-aged and her youngest will be 1 in December.  Her daycare is open from 6:00pm Sunday through 6:00pm Friday.
